Never really plan for any trip I have made except for maybe the hotel and how to get there. Usually every thing goes well but some how making it to the hotel in Italy requires a plan itself plus plan B and C.
My flight was actually cancelled and had someone from Alitalia call me to inform me to reschedule my already short trip there, 4 days total. I accepted and decided to go a day early and meet my cousin a day after in Milan. What an ordel it was to make it to Milan. Almost missed my connecting flight, and had to run all over Rome’s airport because the gate was all the way at the end (the one before the last one). Which I made it only because that flight was late.
Nevertheless, it was a beautiful place and great food. My cousin and I tried to steer away from tourist places and their restaurants (who would want to eat Americanized Italian food in Italy?) We visited Milan and Rome but out of the two, Milan was best. Rome for me was full of tourist. Didn’t have a change to practice my Italian because everybody went straight to english (a bad sign because it means they are going to rip you off). I found this really interesting post regarding tips on how not to get ripoff in Italy.
I have to say the best part of Italy was their coffee places and little market. I could spend hours enjoying the smell of prosciutto and buying all their delicious food. If I have to sum up my trip there I would say I just went there to eat. I would definitely come back to Italy again.
I wish I could tell you my flight back home was a smooth trip but it wasn’t. I had to go to the same thing again! except that this time I wasn’t notified, not even by email which they did the first time.
P.S. My post is not meant to steer you away from this beautiful country but a tip to help you jump all those hoops and enjoy a dreamy trip there.
Pictures are a mix of Rome and Milan.
